An Elemental Sleep: Six Failures is a single-channel video and hand-formed ceramic installation work that I developed through fieldwork in Lithuania. I visited inland dunes, peat bogs, military ruins, and a decommissioned hydroelectric site to gathered video footage and shape clay objects by throwing them at the ground. For me, these are places where the extraction, whether physical or ideological, has shaped the terrain.

An Elemental Sleep was presented at Užupis Art Incubator in Vilnius, Lithuania. The show included a 12 minute looping video installation and six clay objects developed on-site. The Lithuanian national news published a review and the gallery hosted a delegation from the Lithuanian Minister of Culture for an artist talk. I am grateful to the Foundation for Contemporary Arts for supporting this phase of the project through their Emergency Grant program.
