My mother is also an artist - an accomplished painter - and invited me to participate in a two-person show together at the Atlantic Gallery, a co-op gallery in New York City where she has been a member for some years. Mom painted scenes from memories of her time in Iceland, and I translated them with my photo process to create color fields that corresponded to each scene.
From Art and Object “Responding in chroma lifted from these shifting visions, the crisp minimalist color fields of Whitcraft’s work continues the conversation, raising the discussion to a sphere of colors capturing the essence of each pair of Schiffman’s encaustic works...This is a visual journey with two artists working in vastly different styles across the same landscape.”
